  • Chess Team works to better individual thought processes and critical thinking skills. We compete informally during practices and compete against other schools in the Mountain Valley Conference.

  • Choraliers is our select vocal jazz ensemble and typically performs vocal jazz literature. They serve as our "touring ensemble", frequently singing at local events both in school and in the local community. The Choraliers have won frequent superior ratings at Music in the Parks.

  • Color Guard performs visuals for the marching band. Mostly flags, but can also include sabres, rifles, and other accessories. Auditions for the fall will be held in the spring of the previous school year.

  • DECA's mission is to enable students with 21st-century skills in various aspects of the professional world. DECA's core values are for students to become- Academically prepared, Professionally Responsible, Experienced leaders, and Community-oriented. Our chapter prepares its members to the fullest extent for three levels of competition- Districts, States, and Nationals. The organization provides a window of opportunity for students to climb into leadership positions from a district to a national plane. In addition to studying and preparation, DECA provides a true community and a platform to network with others in the school, state, country, and world.   • Envirothon involves academic competition in Environmental Science. We initially compete against all county high schools at Kettle Creek on the first Friday of May. If we win, we will go on to the state competition.

  • GSA's is a student-led and student-organized school club with the goal of providing a safe place for students who identify as gay, lesbian, queer, transgender, or otherwise. In addition, it is a place for allies to come to support their peers. GSA hosts discussions and activities to educate and support each other on topics of significance to LGBTQ youth such as current events, and it also fundraises for organizations that provide services for LGBTQ individuals such as The Trevor Project. GSA members provide inspiration and education for their peers through artwork and activities.

  • Key Club is an international, student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership. Members of Key Club perform acts of service in the community, such as cleaning up roads, collecting clothing and organizing food drives, volunteering at Head Start and soup kitchens, and much more. They also learn leadership skills by running meetings, planning projects, and holding elected leadership positions at the club, district, and international levels.

  • Mock Trial is one of the largest in the nation, the PBA/YLD Mock Trial Competition gives more than 300 high school student teams from across the state the opportunity to act as lawyers and witnesses in simulated civil and criminal trials before actual judges and panels of juries. Lawyers volunteer to assist students as team advisors, scorekeepers, and regional coordinators. Each year, the winning team goes on to represent Pennsylvania in the national competition.

  • The National Honor Society is an organization that allows students who have endeavored to exhibit the traits of scholarship, service, leadership, and character to put those qualities to use during their junior and senior year within their local and school community. Members are required to complete 20 service hours during their junior year and 50 their senior year. Service hours are meant to be completed in school and out in the community. Some of our traditional initiatives include holding two blood drives each year, spending a day volunteering at the Salvation Army, and raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the Pennies for Patients Campaign.
    Requirements: Eligible juniors will receive applications once second quarter grades have been posted. To receive an application, one must earn a 4.0 weighted GPA or higher. To be eligible for the review process one must have participated in at least two extracurricular activities during their sophomore and junior years. All applications are then reviewed by the faculty to determine if they meet all requirements. Candidates must exhibit service, leadership, character, a GPA of 4.o or higher and have participated in at least two extracurriculars during their sophomore and junior school years. They must also receive a majority vote from the NHS Faculty Council.

  • Newspaper gives students an outlet to write in a non-biased, expository format to express themselves without creating substantial disruption. Members get the opportunity to write about proximal issues and concerns while making the school community aware of significant topics in a timely fashion. Student editors/writers are afforded the experience to work in a simulated pressroom atmosphere and build sincere relationships as they share opinions, suggestions, and research in a safe environment.

  • Reading Olympics is for students who enjoy reading and discussing the books they read. Our club spends the majority of the school year reading a preset list of books in preparation for our competition in the spring. The competition includes teams from Monroe, Northampton, and Lehigh Valley schools. Teams compete by answering questions about the assigned books.

  • Red Cross Youth Club's mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.   • SADD "SADD was founded on the simple philosophy that young people, empowered to help each other, are the most effective force in prevention."   • Science Olympiad is a team competition in which students compete against other school districts in several different disciplines of science. There are 23 different events that students can compete in with a partner. Some of these events are testing events while others are building events. Most of the preparation is done outside of school. Students have the opportunity to earn a varsity level and to compete at a regional, state, and national level if qualified.

  • Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

  • Tri-M Music Honor Society's mission is to serve as a Music Service Organization. This is our second official year. We have a normal meeting once a month and then have service opportunities for the performance venues of the school. (Formerly Silvoy's Crew).   • Wilderness Club's mission is to get outside. We plan trips that take us outside. We have the goal of planning activities like hiking, biking, snowshoeing, maple sugaring, bog walks, kayaking, etc. We spend a significant amount of our lives (most Americans 90%) inside a building or a car. We believe that we find our lives to be more peaceful after spending time outside. When we indulge ourselves with time outside it restores our inner peace, sense of wellbeing and induces feelings of calm. We also practice being quiet, still, and disconnected from distractions. We embrace the natural world and learn things about it while bathing in its offerings.
