Head Coach Boys Varsity Basketball

Tarik El-Bassiouni, a Stroudsburg High alum and former collegiate athlete, leads the Mountaineers boys varsity program with deep ties to the community. He played basketball at University of Miami and previously captured a state title during his high-school tennis career at Stroudsburg.  
He began his tenure as head coach in the 2022–23 season and is now entering his third year at the helm. 
El-Bassiouni brought a renewed focus on senior leadership and program stability in his recent seasons, guiding a veteran-laden 2024–25 squad while preparing younger players for future roles. 
Known for emphasizing both athletic and personal development, Coach El-Bassiouni fosters a culture of accountability, teamwork, and community representation. He remains committed to coaching not just wins, but shaping young men ready for life beyond high school.

Head Coach Girls Varsity Basketball

Stroudsburg High School has turned to Pocono native Kelly Williams to lead its girls varsity program, marking the first coaching change in more than a decade. Williams replaces longtime coach Matt Field after his 11-season tenure, bringing local roots and experience across multiple developmental levels. A former Pleasant Valley standout, she began coaching youth boys’ and girls’ teams for seven years before returning to her alma mater as a freshman coach and later varsity assistant. She most recently served as an assistant at Lehighton before accepting the Mounties’ top job.
Williams steps into a transition year, inheriting a roster that lost four senior starters, including Pocono Record Player of the Year McKayla Strunk, now at East Stroudsburg University. Still, returning senior Adriana Borzio and rising standout Teagan Strunk, a Juniata College commit, provide a foundation to build on. With deep community ties and broad coaching experience, Williams brings a fresh direction as Stroudsburg prepares for the challenges of EPC and District 11 Class 6A play.
