Head Coach Boys Varsity Basketball

Joe McManus serves as the head coach of the Pocono Mountain East Cardinals boys varsity basketball team, where he has become a familiar and respected presence on the sidelines as assistant to Coach Dudley who resigned from the head coaching position earlier in 2025. A lifelong member of the Pocono Mountain community, McManus has been instrumental in developing the Cardinals’ program into a competitive unit within the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. Known for his disciplined, defense-first approach and commitment to player development, he emphasizes teamwork, accountability, and preparation both on and off the court. 
His coaching philosophy focuses on building confidence in young athletes while maintaining high academic and personal standards. McManus is widely recognized for his steady leadership style, community involvement, and ability to connect with players at all levels. Under his guidance, the Cardinals have continued to grow as a cohesive and determined team, representing Pocono Mountain East High School with pride and consistency across Monroe County competition.

Head Coach Girls Varsity Basketball

Ben Battle took over the Cardinals’ girls varsity program in the 2024-25 season, according to MaxPreps records.  
Coach Battle and his daughter, Sydnie Gallagher, were the Pocono Mountain East Junior High Girls 7th and 8th grade teams' coaches for 7 years prior to moving up to the head coaching position.
In his first year, Battle worked to rebuild the team’s foundation and was featured in a post-game interview for his leadership after a win.  
Coach Battle emphasises player growth, accountability on and off the court, and elevating the team’s presence within the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.
