Head Coach Boys Varsity Basketball

Joseph Berezwick, a veteran coach with more than two decades of success in Pennsylvania high school basketball, currently leads the Pleasant Valley Bears boys varsity basketball program. He was officially appointed to the position for the 2025-26 season following several years as the program’s JV head coach and varsity assistant. 
Before joining Pleasant Valley, Berezwick made his mark as head coach at Tamaqua Area High School, where he guided the Blue Raiders to a District 11 championship and three Schuylkill League titles. Over his tenure, his teams achieved multiple 20-win seasons and district playoff appearances. His outstanding career was recognized in 2022 when he was inducted into the Tamaqua Area Athletic Hall of Fame for his impact on both basketball and community leadership. 
Known for his high-energy coaching style, attention to fundamentals, and focus on academic accountability, Berezwick has built programs grounded in discipline and teamwork. His experience rebuilding programs and mentoring young players makes him a pivotal leader for Pleasant Valley’s next era.

Head Coach Girls Varsity Basketball

Angelica Zimmerman began her tenure as the head coach of the Lady Bears basketball team for the 2024-25 season. 
A native of the Poconos and alumna of Notre Dame of East Stroudsburg, Zimmerman played both soccer and basketball at the collegiate level, experiences that shaped her coaching philosophy.  
She entered the Pleasant Valley program with a clear emphasis on growth: “We’ve set our team culture and our team goals … we want to build little by little, get better each and every day.”  
In her first year, Zimmerman focused on establishing strong relationships with her players, particularly through summer and fall open workouts, and prioritized a defensive identity and fast-break transition game. 
With her appointment officially confirmed in the 2025-26 coach listing at Pleasant Valley, Zimmerman is positioned to guide the program’s next chapter.
