What is the flight program?

The Flight Program is an off-season development initiative designed to support local high school feeder teams through weekend tournament play. Organized by The Crown Hub, Flight provides game-speed reps in a scrimmage-like environment, helping student-athletes transition from middle school to high school competition.
This is not your typical travel or AAU team. Flight is a skill-building system focused on positional development, team IQ, and competitive repetition — all while building chemistry with future high school teammates.

program objectives

● Develop high school-ready players through structured, competitive play.● Encourage athletes to play their future high school or college positions.● Build team concepts like pick-and-roll action, help defense, and paint control.● Create a system that values player growth over wins.

Gameplay format

● Players are divided into small, rotating squads to maximize minutes and touches.● Games simulate scrimmages rather than tryout-style pressure.● Coaches prioritize teaching moments on and off the court.● Emphasis on decision-making, spacing, and timing.

Offensive Development Focus

● Perimeter Shooting: Catch-and-shoot, off-the-dribble, spacing reads.● Passing Under Pressure: Outlet passes, swing-swing action, skip reads.● Tandem Play: Two-man actions including backdoors, flare screens, and give-and-go.● Pick-and-Roll: Pocket passes, reads off the screen, roll/slip/pop options.
Paint Play:● Low Post: Sealing under the rim, L/R finishes, drop-steps, rim running.● High Post: Elbow drives, high-low reads, face-ups.● Mid Post: Turn and face, jab series, up-and-under.● Short Corner: Drives, spot-ups, secondary attack lanes.

Defensive Development Focus

● On-Ball Defense: Lateral movement, hand placement, contesting without fouling.● Wall-Up Principles: Vertical contests to prevent penetration.● Help Defense:               ● Rotations and closeouts.               ● “Help the helper” concepts.
● Team Pressure: Traps, doubles, zone reads.● Rebounding Fundamentals:               ● Pre-box technique: First contact, body up, push back.               ● Rebounding out of area: Pinching in, tracking the flight of the ball.               ● Board and Out: Secure and outlet immediately.

Who Should Join Flight?

● Players entering 7th–10th grade looking to prepare for high school competition.● Athletes seeking meaningful reps and team development, not just trophies.● Student-athletes willing to learn, make mistakes, and develop the right way.
